Dear watch lover,
It is a pleasure for me to introduce you today to the new era of
H. Moser & Cie, a company with a long and fascinating background,
and its range of new watches.
In the spring of 1969, I received a postal package containing keepsakes
of my great-grandmother, Baroness Fanny Moser- von Sulzer-Wart,
Heinrich Moser's second wife. They were sent to me by her former
bookkeeper, Maria Duppenthaler, with whose encouragement I have
devoted myself to the family history. Today, 36 years later, I still find
my investigations fascinating. They cover the life of my great-grandfather,
Heinrich Moser, born 200 years ago, and who, as a young man, had
already gained an international reputation as a watchmaker, and the
lives of his children, whose biographies could not have been more
dissimilar. The adventurous life of his only son, Henri, and his superb
oriental collection, as well as the life and times of my aristocratic
great-grandmother and her daughters. The older daughter concerned
herself with the study of occultism, and the younger daughter was my
grandmother, Mentona.
In the early days of the present century, the Schaffhausen horological
expert Dr. Lange came across the Moser watchmaking dynasty and me,
as one of the descendants, in the course of his research. This meeting
stimulated a desire to revive the H. Moser & Cie watch brand. I was
delighted to assume the honourable task of representing the company
to the world outside. Today, I should like to express my sincere thanks
in particular to our exceptionally dedicated employees and everyone
involved. This new start would not have been possible without their
commitment.
It fills me with pride and pleasure today, as the great-grandson of Heinrich
Moser, once again to return to the place where he once worked and to
present a range of watches which bear the name of this important man
of his time.
