PERPETUAL MOON DISPLAY

The phases of the moon are displayed in a large window on the watch’s dial, and can be adjusted and read accurately to the minute. One orbit of the moon round the Earth, which brings the moon back to its original position in relation to the sun, takes an average 29.53059 days – or, 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 2.9 seconds. The ingenious gear train of the Endeavour Moon translates this interval so precisely that the resulting deviation is just one day after 1,027 years.

MOON PHASES

Displayed in a large window at 6 o’clock are the phases of the moon, as seen from the Northern hemisphere, which can be adjusted and read accurately to the minute. The moon-phase disc shows the current phase of the moon in the window aperture, from the 8 lunar phases. Each marking on the lower edge of the display represents one day, allowing you to calculate to the day when the next moon phase will occur. Despite the extraordinarily accurate display, the moon phase can be easily corrected using a pin pusher on the side of the case, opposite the crown. Additional orientation between day and night is provided by a small central hand rotating once every 24 hours.
